Arts of the Kingdom Exhibition

This is another recommended place to admire exquisite Thai crafts. The result of the Arts of the Kingdom V Exhibition held in late December 2007 was very gratifying with great acclaim from Thais and foreigners alike. It displayed the masterpiece handiwork created by members of agricultural families, who learned Thai artistic skills from the Chitralada Arts and Crafts Centre under H.M. the Queen’s Royal Patronage.

Therefore, a permanent exhibition is now held in the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall. Examples of the delicate works shown here are the replicas of royal thrones and barges. In addition, there are beautiful embroidered screens and the replica of the royal dinner table once used for receiving the royal guests on King Bhumibol’s 60th coronation anniversary on June 9, 2006.

Each piece of work has an English label describing its details. English narration with a headset is also available at 50 Baht.

After absorbing the beauty of all masterpieces, you can visit the souvenir shop or sip a cuppa and enjoy the spectacular view of the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall from the coffee shop located in front of the building.

The Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall is a two-storey white marble building constructed during the reign of King Rama V. Ordered to be built by the King and designed by Italian architects, the magnificent dome building features the exquisite renaissance architecture. It once served as the site of the National Assembly and was used to receive state guests. Now, some important royal ceremonies and state meetings are held in this hall.
